Approximately five years ago, Kutania, an elephant orphanwas rescued from a well by the Elephant Conservation Trust after being left behind by her heard. She arrived at the ECT in Nairobi, Kenya depressed, unable to trust any humans and fearful of other elephants at the sanctuary. In February 2017 Kutania made her first friend: a mouse.
Allegedly, Kutania witnessed the mouse being expelled from the nursery kitchen and immediately, gently, went to her aid by picking her up and putting the mouse on her head. Since that day, Kutania and the mouse are absolutely inseparable.
